Pinflix ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Pinflix mobile application and the website at pinflix.xyz (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information. When you create a Pinflix account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in through a third-party provider (e.g. Apple or Google), we receive basic profile information that provider shares with us.
Waitlist Information. If you join our waitlist before launch, we collect your email address to notify you when the app is available.
Content You Save. When you pin content, we store the URL, title, thumbnail reference, and any metadata (such as the author or platform) associated with that content. We do not download, host, or store the actual media files — we save references (links and embed codes) to content hosted on third-party platforms.
Curations. If you create curations (collections of pins), we store the curation title, description, tags, and the pins within it. If you choose to share a curation, it becomes accessible via a public link.
Usage Data. We automatically collect basic usage data such as app interactions, device type, operating system version, and crash reports. This helps us improve the Service.
Cookies & Similar Technologies. Our website may use essential cookies for functionality. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- To create and manage your account
- To process and display the content you choose to pin and curate
- To generate share pages when you share curations
- To send you important updates about the Service (e.g. launch notifications, security alerts)
- To respond to support requests
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse
We will never sell your personal information to third parties.
3. How We Share Your Information
We only share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Shared Curations. If you share a curation, its title, description, tags, and pins (including content thumbnails and platform info) are publicly accessible via the share link. You control what you share.
- Service Providers. We work with trusted service providers who help operate the Service (hosting, analytics, email delivery). These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and only access data as needed to perform their services.
- Legal Requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
4. Third-Party Content & Platforms
Pinflix allows you to save references to content hosted on third-party platforms (YouTube, Twitter/X, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, and others). When you view pinned content within the app, that content is loaded directly from the original platform. Those platforms have their own privacy policies and data practices, which we do not control. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and access controls to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access & Portability. Request a copy of your personal data.
- Correction. Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion. Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Withdraw Consent. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
